Is Shopify Plus worth it?
Last updated
Checked against Shopify's Plus pricing page on November 4, 2026. That address served Shopify's plan comparison. The canonical link on the page is shopify.com/pricing. Figures below are what that page showed, in USD. If a cell was blank, this guide says so. No price here is estimated.
Plus is the plan above Advanced. The monthly price is much higher, and the page lists more checkout control, more B2B catalogs, more staff and locations, and lower card rates on the main online rate. This guide quotes those figures and then says when that trade is worth a look.
What Shopify lists for Plus and Advanced
The comparison table on the pricing page has four plans. This table keeps Advanced and Plus. "Not listed" means the cell was blank, not that we guessed a number.

The summary cards on the same page agree with the starting prices and the headline limits. Advanced shows $299/mo, which matches the yearly column, and "Card rates from 2.5% + 30¢ USD" and "Up to 15 staff accounts." Plus shows "from $2,300/mo", "Card rates from 2.25% + 30¢ USD", "Unlimited staff accounts", "Fully customizable checkout", "Up to 200 POS Pro locations", and "Unlimited B2B catalogs." The Plus button reads "Try for $399". That is a button label, not the pay-monthly price. The pay-monthly cell still says "Starts at $2,300 USD/mo". The yearly cell for Plus was blank, so this guide does not give a yearly Plus price.
Online international rates are listed as + 1% on both Advanced and Plus. PayPal Wallet rates are listed as starting at 3.49% + 49¢ on both. Those two are not lower on Plus.
What Plus adds over Advanced
Checkout extensibility
The pricing page does not use the words "checkout extensibility." What it does say: the Plus card lists "Fully customizable checkout", the table lists checkout customization as Limited on Advanced and Full on Plus, and "Personalize store with custom functions" sits under Just for Plus. That is the checkout difference on the page we checked.
B2B
Plus lists unlimited B2B catalogs. Advanced lists up to 3 catalogs. The Plus card repeats "Unlimited B2B catalogs."
Automation
"Create marketing automations" is marked Included on Advanced and on Plus, so the page does not treat that row as Plus-only. Advanced lists API rate limits as "Up to 2x on select APIs." Plus lists "Up to 10x on select APIs." Under Just for Plus, the page also lists "Up to 500% higher API call limits." This guide quotes both lines and does not treat them as the same figure.
Staff and locations
Additional staff accounts are 15 on Advanced and Unlimited on Plus. Inventory locations are 10 on Advanced and 200 on Plus. POS Pro is $89/mo per location on Advanced. On Plus it "Includes 20 locations. Up to 200 with Shopify Payments." The Plus card shortens the POS line to "Up to 200 POS Pro locations."
Lower card rates
The standard online card rate is 2.5% + 30¢ on Advanced and 2.25% + 30¢ on Plus. Third-party transaction fees are 0.6% on Advanced and 0.2% on Plus. As noted above, the international add-on and the PayPal Wallet starting rate are the same on both plans.
When Plus makes sense
The pricing page does not name a revenue level where Plus is worth it. This guide does not add a cutoff the page did not publish. The published gap is the subscription: Advanced is $399 USD/mo paid monthly, or $299 USD/mo paid yearly, and Plus starts at $2,300 USD/mo with no yearly price listed.
Revenue level
A lower card rate matters more as card volume grows, because the subscription gap is large. This page does not turn that into a break-even sales figure. Shopify did not publish one on the pricing page, and a figure we calculated would be ours, not theirs.
Wholesale
Plus is the plan that lists unlimited B2B catalogs. Advanced stops at 3. If wholesale selling is capped by that catalog limit, the B2B line is a concrete reason to look at Plus. If three catalogs are enough, the page does not show a B2B reason to pay the higher plan.
Multiple stores
Plus lists up to 9 free expansion stores, 25 headless storefronts, and 200 inventory locations. Advanced lists 1 headless storefront and 10 inventory locations, and it does not list free expansion stores. POS Pro locations are included for 20 locations on Plus (up to 200 with Shopify Payments) and billed at $89/mo per location on Advanced. Several storefronts, or many inventory locations, are the case where those rows start to matter.
How to upgrade
The pricing page does not list the clicks inside an existing store. On November 4, 2026 the Plus button read "Try for $399" and the pay-monthly price read "Starts at $2,300 USD/mo". The FAQ says you can change your subscription. It also says a 1- or 3-year Plus subscription can be canceled when the term commitment expires, and that there are no setup fees on any plan.
Use Shopify's own plan screen, or the button on their pricing page, to make the change. This site does not send an upgrade to Shopify for you.
If you want the move scoped first, use the form on our Shopify page. It is titled Talk to us about Shopify Plus. It opens an email to CNR. It does not submit anything to Shopify.
